Making sandwiches

Today my body is stiff and sore because yesterday I made sandwiches.  This:

And this:

On another note, I have spent a fair amount of time looking, researching, and talking to the pros about a new machine.  I am leaning toward the Bernina 550QE.  It looks to be a great machine.  The thing is...it has just been introduced.  I don't think I want one of the first machines out of the factory.  I think I should let things settle a bit and let the kinks get worked out.

So now it's time to start quilting the above projects!  :o)

I really love these quilts. The orange sashed one calls out to me in a big way. The fabrics are incredible. Will you be sad to see them go?
I think you have chosen the right new machine.

they really have totally different personalities with the different sashing. I wasn't sure I would like the orange one but I think I like it best now.

First generation electronics can be dicey. I'm sure you'll get one when the time is right. Delicious sandwiches. I have learned that making quilt sandwiches is bad for your health--lots of groans and aches.

Love, love both versions!! Really!! I guess I never answered you about what machine I have. I have Viking, always have. Used the Berninas and they are good machines but there are a few features that the Viking has the Bernina does not and that sold me. Viking's have two lights, one in the arm of the machine and one over the foot, so you have a fully lighted area. As I age I need more light... fact of life I guess. Also, the Viking has a sensor foot so that it will adjust the pressure of the foot based on the weight or bulkiness of the fabric. Kind of like a built in walking foot. Also, the Viking never needs oiling. The Bernina does. Just my two cents... for what it is worth.

Both these quilts are looking so wonderful. I still admire you for crawling around on the floor to make these sandwiches. My back sends sympathy messages to yours.
I'm with you on waiting a while to see how the machines go before buying one. Especially if your current one is working okay. Good luck.

Wow, a couple of great almost-quilts! I like 'em both. Very striking fabrics, and totally different personalities. Interesting!
Good luck with your decision. I don't know that I'd get a first generation machine either. Let us know what you decide!
