I am happy to participate for the second time in the Blogger's Quilt Festival ! I thought the last event was so much fun...lots of new friends and lots of new inspiration. A big thank you goes to Amy for hosting the festival again!!
This year I am entering a quilt I made for my new granddaughter, Marina. My daughter requested a quilt with red and yellow...but not a McDonald's quilt. I wanted to make PINK. I am so traditional. So I luckily found (just in the nick of time before the availablity disappeared) the Old New Collection 30's by Lecien that filled the bill perfectly. It was girly, red, yellow with some PINK and some green.
I went outside my usual comfort zone of the square patches that I had used in my previous baby quilts. It was really fun to try new colors and a new block or two. It was still very simple constuction.
Be sure to visit Amy's blog for the list of participants. Make a pot of tea and be ready for fun!
:o)

What a pity that I can't be your granddaughter ;-)) lucky girl! Lovely quilt - and the colours are just perfect!
nice take on the repro 30's You've made a delightful mix of modern, traditional. Does your granddaugter like to too?
Hi Linda.
This quilt has turned out so well!
I love the way the simplicity of the design has let the fabrics shine and really make this quilt gorgeous.
I am pleased that you were able to meet the request for colours from your granddaughter and also able to add the ones you like too.
She is a very lucky girl!
A great quilt!
PS Is the layout your own design?
Once you have pieced one backing, you will never go back! It's addicting and such a fun way to use up scraps and tie the whole quilt together! Great quilt! the colors and the blocks how ever simple are great all together! Great job!
Your quilt is beautiful! I love the back too!
I loved how you mixed the blocks. You only usually seen either square in a square or the other together, but not mixed. funny story, i just tried the other day to make my own 'pattern' for the cross type block. OMGOsh, did NOT work~I wasted WAY more fabric! and made a totally different quilt lol. i guess it's better to just buy a pattern then try to figure it out LMBO.
The quilt is lovely. Simple designs are so well suited to show off beautiful fabrics.
Love the back side too, - very effective :-)
Ooooh yum yum yum, that is so pretty it's edible.
This is just so beautiful. Love it!!!!

This is really beautiful. I've noticed as I peruse through the Festival quilts, that I'm really drawn to tops where yellow is a prominent player. Maybe I should consider that when I pick my next project!! :)
Simple yet striking. Love the different fabrics you picked out.
I love the color combination. It always seems risky when you go out of your comfort zone but this one came out great!
What a delicious quilt. The fabrics are perfect--definitly not McDonald's!!
Very pretty and fresh

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your comment on my blog! I'm glad I found yours now too! This line is beautiful - definitely satisfies the red and yellow, but not McDonald's requirement! :) I loved your pieced back too!

Thanks for commenting on my quilt - I really appreciate it. Your quilt is so lovely. I've been checking out some of your other quilts and my son would just love the one that you are making for your grandson. I have a simple quilt partway done with fabrics which all relate to cars and I know my Nipper is going to love it as much as your grandson will love yours.
Oooh! I love this pattern! Just a beautiful quilt! :)
Gorgeous fabrics- I have admired some of the Lecien fabrics that I have seen on other blogs. They look so pretty and look at the gorgeous quilt you have created for your grand daughter.
