Aboriginals Update and Some Pondering

Here are the pressed fronts, backs and bindings for Quilt #1 and Quilt #2.

Now they need sandwiched and quilted.  I think I have a quilting plan, but I am waiting while I decide what to do about my machine.

I love my machine...a 25 year old Bernina 1230.  But it has started to act old lately (just like me!  LOL!)  I recently had it tuned up and it's still doing some funny things (again...just like me!)  Roscoe's Pa told me to look at new machines.  Yes, he really said that.  I am taking it seriously!!!  So I don't want to quilt these quilts until I make a decision about whether or not I am going to get a new machine.  I want to go look at the new Bernina 550QE, which has a moderately extended free arm to the right of the needle...more room for quilting.   I am now in my 60's.  If I get a new machine, it might be my last machine.  Lots of pressure here to a make a good decision!

:o)

Great to see everything ready. You are so organised!
Good luck with choosing a machine. At least you know you can't go wrong with a Bernina. The new range will be released here next month so I am waiting to see it. No, I don't need a new one, but I am still interested in looking. I look forward to seeing which one you choose.

I dont know if you are looking for comments, but here is mine anyway HaHa!! I have a Pfaff, which I love for straight sewing, but it does not FMQ well at all. I also have a Janome which I love for FMQ! But it is always a personal preference. Hope you find something you like.

How exciting! In January, I finally traded in my 30 year old Bernina for a new model. I got a smaller 350. I figured I had never had all the bells and whistles, so this one gave me more than I ever thought I would use. I love it. I use my Juki for quilting, so I didn't need the longer arm. Whatever you choose, you will love it. Have fun!

You ARE all organized! Good for you - I'm still searching for the binding fabric on one of the quilts I had quilted.

Ooo, have fun shopping for a new machine. My advice would be - keep an open mind and try lots of machines. I took some piecing with me for testing purposes, and you might want to take a quiltlet sandwich too. Take as long as you want - don't let the salespeople rush you! And have fun!

How fun to think of a new machine. I am in my 60's also and always think along the same lines as you mentioned.

WOW, a new machine! I would totally take it seriously too! How is the looking going? I bet you just can't stand it. Can't wait to see your quilts quilted either.
